Trigger Point
Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a hyperirritable location that “triggers” a painful response.  The use of this modality is not only therapeutic to the muscle it resides at but also the referral pain that comes along with the irritated tissue.

Trigger points are located in the muscle fibers and can be deactivated by precise pressure applied to the area of need.  A common technique used with trigger point therapy is known as the “pincer grip”.  In which the therapist will pick up the muscle fibers and pinch the specific area allowing a release of muscle tension.  Although trigger point therapy is an effective modality, triggers are areas that have been building up over time and may need multiple sessions as well as education of proper body mechanics to help from chronic recurrence.
